After a very busy holiday season, it's time for me to catch up on self-care. I love anything from the Rotenburo Air collection when I'm exhausted. It's truly rejuvenating and encourages much needed deep, slow breaths.

Because of the cold weather's physical and mental effects, a soak or in-shower massage with the Camellia Japonica Bathing Oil is soothing and comforting. Day by day, I feel as if I'm coming back to life.

Since travel is again restricted to Japan, I use this ritual as an escape. The Rotenburo Air collection was inspired by a soak in Kurama Onsen in Kyoto after my husband and I spent the day hiking to end up at the beautiful Kurama-dera temple. This hike was magical and is considered by many to be somewhat of a spiritual pilgrimage. After finally arriving at Kurama Onsen, I'll never forget the mental and physical relief of slipping into a steaming hot outdoor bath while gazing at the mist covered mountains.

Step out onto a hillside, where you are greeted with a clear blue sky and breathtaking views of nature. The air is fresh and crisp, and the sun touches your skin with its warmth. The scent of aromatic pine floats on a gentle breeze. Ahead is an open-air rotenburo bath, luminous under the sun and sky. As you slip into the mineral-rich hot spring water, you notice the sensorial experience of warmth on your body juxtaposed by the cool breeze touching your face. As you stare out at the magnificent view while breathing deeply, the combinations of water, sun, air, and sky rejuvenate and restore your body and soul.

Rotenburo Air is a fragrance for rejuvenation. Japanese yuzu citrus relaxes and brings positivity to the body and mind while wild orange replenishes, revives, and uplifts. A refreshing mix of conifers such as organic white pine and organic balsam fir refresh and revitalize. A touch of monarda flower relieves stress while the finest white frankincense from Oman reduces tension and encourages deep breathing.

The Wash: The Aromatic Body Wash will transform your shower into a fragrant, mood-shifting escape for the senses. This all-natural, non-drying wash features exquisite essential oils from around the world, detoxifying wild-harvested seaweed extract, skin-softening organic virgin coconut crème, and antioxidant-rich organic sea buckthorn CO2 extract.

The Oil: This highly aromatic bath oil nourishes, moisturizes, and soothes the skin while taking your senses on a journey through botanical fragrance. Highly concentrated, one capful is all you need for an otherworldly, Japanese bathhouse-worthy soak. Or, use this oil in the shower as a finishing treatment and allow yourself to be transported to Japan through the senses.

Step 1) Pour a quarter-sized amount into your palm or onto any of our Japanese washing towels and smooth over your skin for a minute or more. As you do this, shut your eyes and envision all of your cares and worries being washed away.

Step 2) Bath: As in the tradition of Japanese bathing rituals, shower first. Once the bath is full, pour one capful of oil into the tub. Swirl with your hand to distribute evenly and then slide into the bath. Soak for at least twenty minutes. When you exit the bath, pat skin dry.

Shower: After washing, apply a small amount of oil to your palms. Begin by massaging the shoulders and make your way over the rest of your body adding more oil as needed. Allow the oil to penetrate the skin for a minute. Take one final rinse with water before exiting the shower. Pat skin dry.
